Ethiopia Longberry Harrar Horse

ROAST RATING:
FULL CITY +

Coffee was first discovered and cultivated in Ethiopia, and spread from there to Yemen, to the rest of the world. Many of the coffees we drink from other origins are direct descendents of those first beans.

Coffees from Harrar are generally grown by small farm owners who are members of large co-operatives. Because the beans are grown over a wide area, coffees from the same region can taste radically different. I looked for a classic Harrar which displays the coveted wild and fruity flavors with an emphasis on blueberry. It's
elusive: in a single lb you can have a cup with blueberry flavors, or chocolate with spice. It also can make a very interesting, complex single origin espresso if roasted a bit darker to eliminate some acidity. This is from the newst crop, and if anything it has a more prominent blueberry lingering aftertaste than my last bag.
