Colombia Los Progresivos CENCOIC

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY

This coffee is grown by a co-op of of indigenous Colombians in the Cauca region, called CENCOIC, which is headed by a woman. It's a micro-lot, meaning the coffee is chosen for its specific flavor profile from a very small, isolated area of the farm or growing region, such as a particular hillside or corner of a valley. This is an unusual practice; usually coffees are not separated like that within plantations.

It shows in the cup. This is a great coffee, and different than the Colombian coffee's I have chosen in the past, which tend to display a pure 'coffee-ness' with no unusual flavors. Initial chocolate and hazelnut flavors melt into a beautiful butterscotch, with a nice tangerine acidity softening into a cinnamon spice aftertaste. Really gorgeous.

I'm very proud to have recieved a very small quantity of this coffee. It's limited, so enjoy it while it's here!
