100% Estate Kona

ROAST RATING: CITY

Here it is folks, by popular demand. I've said for a while now that I won't carry Kona: it's generally overpriced mediocrity. Much better coffees can be had from other regions for a fraction the price. But, after much pestering from customers who enjoy the Kona, I decided to snoop around and see what I could find. Many samples and cups of mediocrity later (and a caffeine headache or two), I came upon the gorgeous coffee you'll find here. This coffee is good by ANY standard, and far surpasses any Kona I've ever tried.

Brazil Tijuco

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY
Many Brazil's can't stand on their own two feet: bland as drip or French Press, they are relegated to being blended in espresso blends. This Brazil is different.

Costa Rica La Minita

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY

This may be the best coffee I have, it's just perfect. It's evenly balanced between hearty and delicate; sweet, but with a medium splash of citrus acidity and French vanilla, it encompasses the full spectrum of flavors, tickles the full range of taste buds. It is the Pavarotti of coffees.

Colombia Los Progresivos CENCOIC

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY
This coffee is grown by a co-op of of indigenous Colombians in the Cauca region, called CENCOIC, which is headed by a woman. It's a micro-lot, meaning the coffee is chosen for its specific flavor profile from a very small, isolated area of the farm or growing region, such as a particular hillside or corner of a valley. This is an unusual practice; usually coffees are not separated like that within plantations.

Kenya Kanchogo Nyeri Fair Trade

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY

This very limited Kenya is as good as the Karogoto I had recently, from the same supplier. Kangocho Nyeri is from a small co-op in the Nyeri region of Kenya, and it's my first ever Fair Trade Certified coffee. This coffee explodes wild blackberry and Concord grape right out of the cup, with a lot of depth and sweetness. I've pulled a few shots of espresso with it; interestingly and against my expectations, it's very drinkable, unlike many Kenya's which are too powerful and tart as single origin espresso. Though I recommend it highly for drip, the concentration of wild berries when brewed as espresso is insane!

Ethiopia Longberry Harrar Horse

ROAST RATING: FULL CITY +
Coffee was first discovered and cultivated in Ethiopia, and spread from there to Yemen, to the rest of the world. Many of the coffees we drink from other origins are direct descendents of those first beans.

Sumatras are heavy hitters, full of body, sweetness, earthiness, and lack the brightness and acidity of Central American coffees.

Decaf Espresso Torro

ROAST RATING: ESPRESSO FULL CITY
Ahh, decaf; it looks like coffee, smells like coffee, and tried so hard to BE good coffee, but alas, it usually falls short of the mark. Not so with our delicious Decaf Espresso Torro. Crema? Thick and oozing. Body? Syrupy. Sweet? Check. Acidity? C'mon now, you know it!
